
Eric D. Steinbicker, DDS
Dr. Eric D.
Steinbicker was born and raised in
Mebane, NC, and graduated in the top
three of his class from Eastern Alamance
High School. He received his BS in
biology and chemistry and his Doctor of
Dental Surgery degree from UNC-Chapel
Hill. During undergraduate school he was
a walk-on for the UNC Men's JV
basketball team under head coaches Dave
Hanners, Pat Sullivan, and Phil Ford. He
had the opportunity to meet and play
with basketball stars Vince Carter,
Shammond Williams, Ed Cota, Joe Forte,
Jason Capel, and Jason Williams, to name
a few. After working in a group practice
in Clayton, NC, Dr. S. aspired to return
to his hometown of Mebane in order to
serve its people. Dr. S. not only serves
Alamance County in private practice, but
also volunteers with Give Kids A Smile,
Baptist Men’s Dental Bus, and Mebane
elementary schools. His philanthropic
attributes stem back to college where he
headed the Big Brother program at UNC-CH
and also ran a night clinic during
dental school that provided free dental
services for those in need. During
dental school Dr. S. had the opportunity
to practice in the following places:
the Crow Indian Reservation and the
Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana,
Australia, and Cherokee Indian
Reservation in North Carolina. Dr. S.
currently serves on the Dental Assisting
Advisory Board at Alamance Community
College and is a member of the American
Dental Association and the North
Carolina Dental Association. He and his
wife Mariola reside in Mebane with their
son, two golden retrievers and a
yorkshire terrier. He enjoys traveling,
fly fishing, cooking, camping, hiking,
wildlife management, and land
conservation.
Mariola Luciano-Steinbicker, RDH, BS, MS
Mariola
joined our team as head of our Dental
Hygiene Department in 2007. She is
originally from Mayagϋez, PR, but grew
up in Lincolnton, NC. She obtained her
BS degree in dental hygiene from UNC-CH
in 2004 and then received her MS degree
in dental hygiene education with a minor
in management and administration from
the same university in 2006. During her
education at UNC Mariola was on the
dean’s list, received the dental ecology
community award, and was inducted into
Sigma Phi Alpha, the national dental
hygiene honor society. Since 2004
Mariola has been providing dental
services in the area. She is fluent in
Spanish and has been valuable in serving
the areas Hispanic population. While in
graduate school she completed a research
study published in the Journal of Dental
Hygiene related to the access to care
issues faced by the Hispanic population
of NC. For years Mariola has volunteered
her time through community service. She
has worked closely with the Orange
County Health Department as a health
promoter educator, and has volunteered
with Give Kids A smile and the Baptist
Men’s Dental Bus in Alamance County.
Mariola has had the opportunity to
practice in teaching and corporate
experiences during and after graduate
school in the following places:
University of Maryland, American Dental
Hygiene Association Headquarters, Indian
Health Service, Omnii Oral
Pharmaceuticals, University of Texas
Health Sciences Center, and Wake
Technical Community College. She
currently serves on the Dental Hygiene
Community Advisory Board at UNC-CH and
as a dental product evaluator. Her
commitment to dental hygiene and
lifelong learning make her an invaluable
team member. Mariola is married to
Dr.Steinbicker and enjoys traveling,
figure skating, photography, and playing
with her son and three dogs.
